Adinkrahene – Symbol of greatness, authority, prudence and magnanimity. Ghana, West Africa.
Broom – During slavery time in the U.S., marriage of enslaved Africans was not recognized by the state. The Africans developed a “Jump the Broom” ceremony that united them in holy matrimony. It celebrated the beginning of a new life and showed their determination to perpetuate the values of family they brought with them from the Motherland.
